The Musical Seals

The Musical Seals

Text: Ran Levy-Yamamori, illustrations: Josiane Habib-Mor

Everyone in their own way can help nature. Fiona decided to save common and grey seals in her special way: she looks after orphaned and abandoned seal pups and injured seals from around the shores of the beautiful and enchanted Island of Islay in the Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. Fiona is a musician who writes songs and poems about the seals, the people of the sea, and tries to increase public awareness of the need to save and protect seals. It all began when she once played her violin on the shore, and was delighted to discover that wild seals from the sea swam closer to listen to her music. This was the beginning of the special relationship between her and these wonderful seals.

The book is also published in Hebrew and in Arabic. It is already in use in several coexistence and environment-education projects for Jewish-Arab children in Israel.
